Purple Petra, Pink Naomi, Perfumed Suzy, Innocent Ilona. Juicy Jane.

audiovisual installation on 8 synchronized screens, 10 minutes 40 second loop, HD videos, 1080x1920, stereo sound, 2025.

The installation stages four stories of disillusionment, oscillating between trust and underlying deception. The fictional voice of an insurance call center employee is juxtaposed with the story of her breakup, but also scientific discourse on the natural reproduction of orchids, and fragments of commercial discourse promoting their commodification.

These texts (printed in small books and performed by Margot du Jonchay) resonate with images filmed in greenhouses in the Netherlands, where I have chased the process of artificially coloring blue orchids. In a fragmentary narrative, contradictory emotions emerge. The standardization of the objects we buy confronts that of our language and that of our working days. One question remains: what to do with broken promises—those we are made as well as those we formulate ourselves?
